Psalms 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
Scripture Commentaries
The love of a father to his children is used as the highest standard by which the pity of God is described in Psalm 103:13.
This is because it is expected that a true father ought to have a heart for his children.
A man can be a husband yet not have a father's heart. A father cares, therefore a man's role as a father comes before his marital role as a husband
Relationally, a father comes before a husband.
The bible calls you a husband in relation to your wife, Eph 5:22, 1 Pet 3:7 but calls you a father in relation to impacting your children's lives, Ps 103:13, Prov 13:22, Eph 6:4.
A daughter's relation with her father lays the foundation of how her perception of a marriage with a man she would call a husband, in future
A father is the first man a girl closely interacts within her life and his personality, as a father, may determine her mindset of who a good husband would be.
A good father will impact his children's future decision of what or whether marriage is worth its while.
Children who grow up to see a caring and loving exhibition of their fathers towards their mothers grow up to love and look forward to the marriage of the same pedigree. This is because they had tasted one while they were growing with their parents.
As a father, how you relate with your wife and your love for your sons and daughters will determine their likes or dislikes for women or men, respectively.
Your behavior as a father can determine your girl's level of trust for men.
She may see all men as trustworthy if you show such lovely attributes. She may see them as dangerous if she sees your aggression and brutality.
As a father, encourage a father-present home, not a father-absent-home.
If you are a father but not a husband, own up to your responsibilities.
If you are a husband not yet a father, love more, be one with your spouse. It is God who brings the increase.
Remember, a good father makes a good husband.

Choose to adopt a father-like virtue. Be a father-husband. It will help your little girl lay a foundation for her relationship with her future husband.

Prayer
Lord help me to fulfill my God-given expectation of a father and husband, as laid down in your word. May l not fail You, the children, and all you have given me, in Jesus name.
