2 Corinthians 12:15– And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.
Insight and Highlight
Most times we feel like loving but are afraid if we will be loved in return. This and past disappointments must not discourage us to love.
Scripture Commentaries
We know who we love but we do not know those who truly love us.
Often times we are hated for the love we give. Wicked people are often loved and envied over people who show love, ref Ps 73:3-17.
Apostle Peter encourages us saying:
1 Peter 2:20 – For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
Remember also Christ was hated for the love He gave, John 15:18.
Christ was even hated for what He was not, Matt 12:24.
So we hurt when people hate us in spite of the love we show them, but how much hurtful it is to be hated for what we are not?
This is the world we live in!
Therefore the love of God must be shed abroad in our hearts, that is overflowing our hearts, by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us, Rom 5:5.
It was out of this abundance, yet found in His one and only begotten Son, that God gave His love.
Apostle Peter in 2 Pet 1:3 says – According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness..."
So, if according to His Divine power, God has given us all things, then the ability and power to love are all-inclusive. This means it is within our power to love because we have been empowered to love.
Therefore, if we fail to love, it is not because we do not have the power to love but because we chose not to love.

Call to Word action
Rom 5:8– But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
The Christian clarion duty
Christ loved us when we are not lovable. His love qualified us and made us loved.
Let someone feel loved.
Prayer
Lord, help me to choose to love. Let no offenses come from me, in Jesus' name.
