CAN YOU SEE.....?(3)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*CAN YOU SEE.....?(3)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Gen 25:29-34:

*And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint:*

*And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom.*

*And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.*

*And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?*

*And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.*

*Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Esau only saw his present but could not see his tomorrow.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

As vision and visibility have a strong connection, so are missions and vision.

You engage in a mission, but you look forward to a vision.

Both Esau and Jacob had mission and vision.

Your mission may be described as what you do now. They form your mission statement.

The key mission of Esau that would make his life complete or fulfilled was to be *".....a cunning hunter, a man of the field;..."*, Gen 25:27.

For Jacob, it was *".....a plain man, dwelling in tents.*, Gen 25:27b.

Your vision is what you plan to do in the future.

The vision God had for them was that *"....the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger."*, Gen 25:23. This meant that Jacob would be stronger and would have dominion over Esau.

This was the predetermined will of God for both of them.

God knew how to achieve His predetermined purpose, without any ill feeling or hatred and without any confusion.

However, some things in our lives must come to vindicate the truth of God's word.

If we care to know the circumstances surrounding our birth or care to know the environment and family we grew up in, they may help us to know what to work on

Gen 27:36a says Esau came out first, and he *".....came out red, all over like an hairy garment;......"*

Gen 27:36b says when Jacob came out of the womb he *"....took hold on Esau's heel...."*

Each of them must live to prove that God was telling the truth about them. Their lives must reflect what God had shown through their birth.

It was important that each worked on their frames in order to achieve God's vision for their lives, but each used them to work against God's purposes for their lives.

They saw their frames as an opportunity to pursue self interests rather than use them to achieve God's visions for them.

Esau misused his redness and cunning hunting ability while Jacob made more evil of himself rather than improve.

Isaac's request to Esau, telling him to take his *".....weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison;*

*And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee..."* Gen 27:3-4 meant that Esau knew what he was endowed with, and he did it well with finesse.

Jacob, a man who dwelt in the tent, must have been watching Esau, and he finally came out with a sinister plot to tempt him with what he knew Esau loved most: the *"....sod pottage...the same red pottage;....."*, Gen 25:29-30.

We must work out our lives to be a blessing to God and others.

While God gives you a good vision for your life, it is not to hurt, endanger, cheat, or subdue Him or other people.

While God showed Esau who he would be, a good caterer, it was not for greed or to trade away his lifetime.

While God showed Jacob he would be a heel grabber, it was for him to work on it. While God said Jacob would rule over his elder brother. did not mean he would do it by his own way of con and deception. We must always remember that God makes rich and add no sorrow, Prov 10:22.

The world we live in today is full of sorrow because people fail to work on themselves or, better said: they did not ask God to help them.

We were all born with the propensity to sin, cheat, cause sorrow, etc, but we do not have to be like this.

David said he was *"....sharpen in iniquity, and in sin....."* did his mother conceive him, Ps 51:5, but it did not exempt him from God's judgment. Only mercy saved him from death,

2 Sam 12: 13.

Jacob may have deceived Esau, but he paid the penalty for his deception. He never saw his mother again. He was cheated for fourteen years by his uncle. He was deceived by his children. For 130 years, the penalty of his sin revolved around him. One hundred and thirty years as many as they were, were but few years, but mercy saved him, Gen 32:28, Gen 47;9.

Esau was supposed to use his gift to bless and make savory meat that would command blessing, but he misused it. He turned what was enough for his and others' appetite into an uncontrolled appetite.

Jacob was supposed to work on his heel grabber sinful nature. It was God’s warning to him, but he ignored it.

One may say the Bible did not record that neither Jacob nor Esau was told of the circumstances surrounding their birth, but they were not ignorant of their actions, ref Prov 20:11.

Jacob knew the essence of the birthright. Esau underestimated Jacob's power to take way his birthright. He may be telling himself that at least Jacob was not born first.

He forgot that the presence of a physical thing may not in itself point to the spiritual significance of what it represents.

Being firstborn is physical, but if it does not point to the spiritual essence, it can be lost, Gen 35:22, Gen 49:3-4.

You can never be ignorant of your bad or inactions. You know and God knows, Heb 4:12, Gal 6:7.

If you can see, you will work on yourself for God to work and perfect His plans in your life.

*Remorse corner.*

Can you see...?

If you can see, you will make yourself better before God by working on yourself to meet God's vision for your life

*Call to Word action.*

Philippians 2:12 *Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The solution to a successful workout of your salvation is a new life in Christ. It will help you to resist what you must not do, ref Jam 4:7.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to work on myself while l remain to always be mindful to trace my steps back to You. Let me see as l tread now and into Your vision for me. Do not let me slip away in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
