Scripture Treasure Exd 3:13-14– And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.
Insight and Highlight
God, the I AM THAT I AM, is One of unchangeable character, unsearchable and His ways are passed finding out, ref Rom 11:33.
Scripture Commentaries
God gave Moses, a fundamental name, declaring He is self-existent, without beginning, without end.
He said to Moses to say to the Hebrew people, ....I Am hath sent me unto you.
Exd 3:14.
There has never been a time God was not. God will always exist in the immediate now.
He the begining and the end, the First and the Last, Heb 13:8, The Alpha and Omega, Rev 22:13.
He is the begining of all things and the end of all.
He is Holy and dwells in perfect existence, independent of all creation (the Transcendence of God). He dwells on High, Ps 113:5, in the Heavens, makes the earth His footstool, Is 66:1, Acts 7:49, and does as He pleases, Ps 115:3.
He is not bound by time like we are. He has no fixed point when He was born or brought into being, ref Heb 7:2-3.
In God, we see the supremacy of Christ:
Heb 1:3– The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His nature,...
Col 1:15– Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
John 8:58– Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
And through the Holy Spirit, we relate with Him, John 4:24– God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Eph 1:13– In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
The only way for us to come into the presence of a holy God is to become holy ourselves.
