*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*
*JESUS IS A LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT (10)*
*Scripture Treasure.*
Psalm 146:2 *While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
There was a man who gave all his lifetime just to praise God. His name was David. He was saying that as long as the Life-Giving Spirit was in him, he would not only praise God but would do so for as long as he lived!
*Scripture Commentaries.*
We know the Bible can not lie. Every word in it was inspired by God, ref 2 Pet 1:21,
He would tell us in His word when people lied, ref 1 Kgs 13:18-19. He, through His word, teaches, admonishes us, Col 3:16, and corrects us, 2 Tim 3:16.
If David did not praise God for as long as he lived, the Spirit would not inspire his writing.
While there are people who resort to living fasted or prayer life today, it may be a task to see people who resort to living a life of praise.
Today, there are prayer mountains, secluded prayer gardens, Chapels, Churches all devoted to just continual prayers and often with fasting, but permanent places for praises are not as common as prayers.
Even when intense praises are convened, a dire mix of the world and the spiritual are often the order of the day.
We must, however, give credence to dignified, hallowed, and sacrosanct praises. They are still with us. They come with God's glory, and there are men, though some may not be known to us all, who have chosen to give their whole lifetime to praising God, ref 1 Kgs 19:18.
David challenges us by saying he would praise the Lord all the days of his life.
In Ps 34:1, he says *"......l will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips"*
He says the same in Ps 63:4, 104:33.
In Ps 145:1-2, he says he would bless the Lord, God, and King forever and ever, not minding how long he would live.
He says in Psalm 71:8 that he would sing God's praise all day long.
In Psalm 92:1-2, he says *"....It is good to praise the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High,......* *....to proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning and Your faithfulness at night*
David was saying that praising God always was the best proof of living.
Praise brings God down to dwell among those who praise Him.
He leaves His throne and exchanges the earth that is His footstool, Isaiah 66:1, to become a place where He is present, to inhabit and dwell because of the praise offered by his people;
Psalm 22:3, states *But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel,.*
How often do you pray with little or no praise accompanying your petitions and supplications?
Give room for praising God all the days of your life.
Allow it to be included. Give it a priority.
As Paul said, we pray without ceasing, 1 Thess 5:17, David was saying we praise without ceasing when we praise God all the days of our lives.
As for giving, Jesus and Solomon said we continue to give without ceasing.
Jesus said "*Give and it shall be given unto you.....,* Luke 6:38.
Solomon said *In the morning sow thy seed, and in the evening withhold not thine hand:.....* Eccl 11:6.
We may not be praising God enough if we do it occasionally!
It is proof that the Life-Giving Spirit is in us, not only by the songs we sing but also by how continually and stedfastly we sing them to praise God!
*Remorse corner.*
David crowns it all by saying it is we who
*".....will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise the LORD.*, Ps 115:18 because we have the breath to do so, Ps 150:6.
*Call to Word action.*
Paul implied in Ephesians 5:19 that psalms and hymns are sources of praise singing in addition to Holy Spirit inspired songs.
He says *Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;.*
*The Christian clarion duty.*
Not all songs are songs of praise. Paul emphasizes spiritual songs, and if you are not sure of spiritual songs, use the Spirit inspired songs in the psalms and the Hymns.
Colossians 3:16 *Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.*
*Prayer.*
Lord, help me, like the Psalmist, to praise you as long as l live in Jesus name.
Good morning all.
*Today is the first Thanksgiving Sunday of 2025.*
Let us come together as we thank and bless the Lord, in Psalms, Hymns, and spiritual songs.
Be blessed as you come in Jesus name.
God bless you.
