JESUS IS A LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT (8)

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*JESUS IS A LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT(8)*

*Scripture Treasure.*

1 Cor 15:45 *And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

*Insight and Highlight.*

John 1:4 *In him was life; and the life was the light of men.*

*Scripture Commentaries.*

Adam was a living soul. He was created and given life, to live forever ref Gen 3:22.

Sin reduced his life to a mere living soul, which was subject to vanity.

Rom 8:20 says *"....For the creature was made subject to vanity......"*

The creature (children of men) was now in the bondage of corruption and needed deliverance *"......into the glorious liberty of the children of God.* Rom 8:21.

The creature now *".....groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.*, Rom. 8:22,*......waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.*, Rom 8:23.

Since the fall made us corrupted, we have been battling with spiritual infirmities, along with the physical and the emotional.

Most troubling is the spiritual.

We were, and still are, overwhelmed with our problems and became spiritually tired that we could not pray.

Jesus said in Matt 26:41 *The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.*

Paul says in Rom 7:19  *For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.*

We are so overburdened by the challenges of life that though we have the desire to do what is right but our weakened and limited human nature is not strong enough to follow up on achieving such intentions.

Though we know the problems we are facing but the ability to know the right thing to do in order to solve our problems was not there.

God, however, gave us His Spirit who *"......helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."*, Rom 8:26.

As Paul wrote, then it is still so today.

We see that though we have been saved, there are evil forces that hope to regain control if we do not resist them.

So, while our lives are daily bombarded and inflicted by these forces that weaken us, we need the life quickening/life-giving Spirit of Christ.

Until we acknowledge our weaknesses and accept that a life without the quikening/life-giving power of God is dead, we will continue to be like the sick who refuses the cure for his ailment

Everyone born into this world acquires flesh and the sinful Adamic nature. The propensity to sin is very high.

We were born into the corrupted Adamic nature. David says Ps 51:5 *Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.*

We are made alive when we receive Christ.

The Adamic nature is sinful while the Christ nature is redemptive.

As Christ became flesh to live in a sinful world yet did not sin, so Christ has made us live in the flesh or body that is capable of sinning, yet we ought not to sin.

As God was in Christ, who could not sin, 2 Cor 5:19, so Christ in us will not allow us to sin. By His presence in us, we are made alive. Paul says in Rom 6:11 *Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.*

The life we live by our own is too dangerous without God. So we must let it die as sin died, but we are not dead but living because we belong to God.

So we live in a body that is capable of dying at the same time live.

The body lives by the Spirit's power, indicating that we have overcome the power of sin. Sin no longer reigns in our bodies, and it no longer controls the way we live. We do not give in to its sinful desires, Rom 6:12.

On the other hand, the body dies to sin, indicating that we are children of God.

Paul sums both together in Rom 14:8 *For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's.*

So what keeps us going is the life of Christ in us, Rom 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

Make up your mind this year.

God is on one side. With Him, you will live now and eternally with God. This is life more abundantly than the one you are living now.

You will live both life abundantly here and so eternally and forever, Mark 10:30.

Satan is on the other side. He steals, kills, and destroys here, on earth, and he and his angels are reserved hell eternally, Matt 25:41.

The Psalmist says *Thou wilt show me the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.* Psalm 16:11.

This is Jesus. He is the path of life, and He is willing to show and lead you.

*Remorse corner.*

Satan can not give life. He has since the fall made the present life miserable. Since then, the creature has been struggling.

Though we may be living bearable lives, Christ has made it bearably adorable, Matt 11:28-29.

*Call to Word action.*

Paul says in Romans 5:12 *Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:*

1 Cor 15:21-22 *For since death came by a man, so also by a man has come the resurrection of the dead.*

*For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Jesus says in John 11:25  *Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:*

*And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?*

*Prayer.*

Lord, l believe. Please, give me life more abundantly in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
