THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE?

*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE?*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Gen 2:9, 16-17:

v9  *And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.*

v16  *And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:*

v17  *But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

While God thought about the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve thought outside the Garden.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

There were two significant trees, among many others, in the Garden of Eden.

One was the tree of life.

The other was the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

God told Adam that he shall eat of every tree in the garden, but he shall not eat of the knowledge of good and evil.

God did not want Adam to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil because God said Adam would die.

Today, we will look at the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

God had much that He wanted to achieve in Eden.

The serpent came with a question that triggered Eve's undue suspicion to think why God would not want Adam to eat the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

The serpent deceived Eve to begin to think why God would not be glad if Adam ate it and be able to know good from evil.

She began to think what made the tree so special that God instructed Adam not to eat it but could freely eat other trees.

Satan encouraged her departure from God by discouraging her from God, saying to her that God knew that the day she ate from the tree ,*.... Ye shall not surely die:*

*For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.*, Gen 3:4-5.

Eve easily strayed away and from that moment she *"...saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat,...."*, Gen 3:6.

There are a few lessons.

From the moment the serpent entered into Eden, God's statement that Adam would die began to make no sense anymore to Eve.

This is one of the effects of the children of men's inquisition of new things.

The drive to adopt something new, though against God's will, began to govern the hearts of the children of men.

While moving close to God teaches us new things and a revelation of things we do not know of, Jer 33:3, the destructive effects of endangered or dangerous information/discovery, though new , all in the name of knowledge have overwhelmed us to believe we have realized the 'truth' that we should have known earlier.

Even medications have side and deadly effects/consequences, though we follow recommended doses.

We have never been perfect, though we walk towards perfection. Oftentimes, the closer we get to it, the farther we find ourselves.

Discoveries have been disconnections.

There is hardly any development, discoveries, and innovations that have come to us without its destructive consequences!

Every good thing has its fatal disadvantages. Nothing has come to us without nothing lost by us! At times, if not, most times, the tragedies that follow innovations and discoveries often overwhelm us to forget the advantages they ever give us.

We have been people without a choice.

We have become stuck with a fast world of technology, exploration, travels, and adventures. We pay for them while we wait and hope God will deliver us from the eventualities or dangers inherent in them.

From events following the fall, we have lived in a world hoping to forget the unforgetful moments of unavoidable forgetfulness.

There are too many things we can not forget but we hope to forget.

The world has lived in pains and grief. There is a dose of these every day, Matt 6:34.

No single day has passed that the inventions we make, hoping to solve our problems, have not created problems for us.

The pains caused by something new we learned or that we realized we should have known earlier are with us.

The sin of the tree of knowledge of good and evil has brought evil more than good.

When there is more knowledge of evil than good, knowledge becomes questionable.

*Remorse corner.*

Only things new from God will remain new and beneficial without tragedies.

*Call to Word action.*

Gen 3:7 *And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.*

*The Christian clarion duty.*

The sin of the tree of knowledge of good and evil has not only brought evil more than good, but it has become the knowledge of evil more than good.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to remember Your word each time l hear something new. Let nothing new make old Your word in my life, in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
