Not only that, you will exceed the potentials of the people before you. It is recorded Elisha did twice as much miracle as Elijah. It is not surprising Elisha did such exploits. Most touching was Jehoshaphat's heartwarming description of Elisha to King Jehoram the son of Ahab 2 Kgs 3:11
.....Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah. Elisha was very faithful to Elijah. No wonder he called the God of his father, Elijah and God did as He did to Elijah, to Elisha. He did as his father Elijah did and God did to him as He did to Elijah. As Elijah rolled the mantle and parted the Jordan (2 Kgs 2:8) so did also Elisha as his father had done to part the Jordan, 2 Kgs 2,:13. He called on asking ....Where is the LORD God* *of Elijah?*..2 Kgs 2:14.
The journey to Joshua's greatness began with his faithfulness to Moses, ....but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Exd 33:11. No wonder the greater responsibility of dividing the land was given to him, Deut 1:38 (NIV) But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it. Encourage him, because he will lead Israel to inherit it. God’s resolve and will to help Joshua was founded on the favor Moses received from God. Joshua 1:5 ....as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee. The level God will decide to take you may depend on how faithful you have been to a parent-in-the Lord,
Numb 14:30: Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun. Only Joshua and Caleb reached Cannan because of their encouragement to Moses when others were against possessing Cannan, Numb 13:30, 14:38. They were like their father, Moses. The Christian clarion duty Elisha so much trusted in the ministry of his master that he besought God to show up and answer him just the same way He answered Elijah and God did.
