WHAT ARE YOU WORTH?

Acts 5:41– And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Insight and Highlight

The disciple, the follower of Christ, has his worth by identifying with all that is of Christ. He is identified with the cross of Christ and as a follower of Christ, he is called a Christian, after Christ, Acts 11:26.

Scripture Commentaries

The disciple's labor of love does not go unrewarded, Heb 6:10. Matt 19:29– And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

As disciples of Christ, we have been prepared for eventualities. Isaiah 65:14– Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit. See also 2 Tim 3:12.

We must endure as Christ ".....endured the cross, despising the shame,...." and our eternal worth is that we will be "...set down at the right hand of the throne of God." as Jesus was and is now ref Heb 12:2.

The shame of the cross precedes the glory of the resurrection.

The disciple shall have "...sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit." but he shall .....shall sing for joy of heart,...", Isaiah 65:14.

In your challenges, remember the admonition in Rom 8:18 – For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

You can prove yourself valuable. When you do, God will make you irreplaceable even unto many generations to come, ref 2 Sam 7:14-16.

You have been bought for a price, 1 Cor 6:20, yet priceless, worth more than money, Isaiah 52:3, with nothing to pay to be saved, Isaiah 55:1.

You are the apple of God's eye, Zech 2:8, you are worth more than every other living creature, Matt 6:26, 10:31 and more, you are created in His image, Gen 1:27.

A disciple begets disciples, he is a disciple, making disciples of others.

His worth is expressed in his travailing to see Christ formed in others, Gal 4:19.

Let your worth be felt for you are in the Kingdom "...for such a time like this..", ref Esther 4:14, 2 Tim 3:1.

Your worth as a disciple is in Christ, Rom 8:17.

Fulfill expectations by manifestation, Rom 8:19.

Remorse corner

As a disciple, you are worth more than you think. You are not reduced by insults because you are absolved before God.

1 Peter 4:14– If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Call to Word action

1 Peter 4:16– But if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but glorify God that you bear that name.

The Christian clarion duty

Discipleship is a heart.

Acts 21:13– Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

Prayer

Lord, help me. Let me not lose my worth here and in eternity, in Jesus' name.

Good morning all and have a blessed day.
