Isaiah 6:1-6:
*In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.*
*Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.*
*And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.*
*And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.*
*Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.*
*Insight and Highlight.*
A daily walk and appraisal of who you are before God is key to the operation of spiritual gifts.
*Scripture Commentaries.*
Paul teaches us that a revelation of who we are can help us in the administration of spiritual gifts.
In other words, if you do not have charity/ love (a fruit of the Spirit), you can not successfully administer spiritual gifts, ref 1 Cor 13: 1-3; 14:1.
The story of Isaiah tells us of the danger of
operating in the gifts of God without having a true revelation of oneself.
The operation of the fruit and gift of the Spirit is an ongoing process that will continually be sustained and maintained if we daily work on ourselves as we walk with God.
Isaiah had not received the revelation of God in His holiness, yet he had been prophesying to nations of Israel and Judah
It tells us the importance of seeking God's revelation of oneself in our callings.
Performing miracles, prophesying, tongue speaking, fame, and acclaim may not be the total determinants of who we are but who God says we are.
Samson was one of three (John the Baptist and Jesus being the other two) who had the Spirit from conception, grew in the Spirit yet with the way the Spirit moved him to do sporadic miracles, he was found wanting.
As we receive the filling of the Spirit more than once ( ref Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 9:17-18, so also we need to daily walk and check our standings with God whether we are still of the faith or not
2 Cor 13:5 says *Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?*
What would have happened if Isaiah had not received a revelation of himself?
Paul did a daily walk with God to ensure he still stood in the faith.
He wrote in 1 Cor 9:27 *But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.*
The struggle that confronts us is that though many of us know we are not right with God, yet we pretend to remain unchanged and unteachable.
The truth that confronts us is that some may already be rejected or God had already given up on them, ref Rom.1:21-32.
How many so-called Christians openly confess to their uncleanness as Isaiah did?
'What would people say if l confessed?' 'What would happen to the congregation or people who trusted me?', etc. These are struggles, which ought not to be.
Some or many would rather hope for a last- minute opportunity to repent or settle for the deception that God would not throw them to hell, or some would just settle for hell rather than face the shame.
Isaiah did not see any shame in saying woe was he who had been speaking with an unclean lips.
Those who fear God would rather turn from their errors even if it brought ridicule than defend their errors and end up in hell.
What we do for God is important to God, but this is not as important as who we are to Him.
Remember that though Isaiah was present and already in the Lord's service, God was still asking whom He would send, Is 1:8.
Isaiah made up his mind to continue with God. God answered by a conditional word *"Until........"*, Is 6:11, meaning that Isaiah must continue to a specified time and stops at that time. He must serve until the people change from their uncleanness just like Isaiah had changed.
Isaiah completed his assignment. He was not replaced during his time.
We are replaceable, but God is not willing to replace us while we are still in His service. He would replace if we do not do away with our uncleanliness. Fruit and gifts of the Spirit are to build us and profit withal. Only the righteous use of these with cleanliness and purity will take us to the presence of God eternally.
Have you asked God who you are before Him?
Have you asked Him to reveal who you are to yourself or you do not bother to ask Him?
*Remorse corner.*
Why would God be looking out for someone to do what He knows you are already doing?
*Call to Word action.*
God loves succession, Numb 27:18-21. If, however, we remain unchanged from our ways despite all His efforts, He remains unchanged to change the unchanged, ref 1 Sam 15:22.
*The Christian clarion duty.*
We can not impress God with the operation and manifestation of gifts, but we can impress Him with Holy Living.
*Prayer.*
Lord, please do not look for someone else to do the work l am already doing for You, in Jesus name.
Good morning all, and have a blessed day.
God bless you.
