*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHY YOU ARE NOW A SON.*

*Scripture Treasure.*

Gal 4:5-7  *To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.*

*And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.*

*Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Whether referred to as sons of God, we are *"........are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.* Gal 3:26.

*Scripture Commentaries.*

The Bible teaches us the gradual transition of the child of God from servants of God to friends of God and sons of God.

Jesus teaches us on all.

Today, we will focus on servants.

On servants, His life teaches us that the title 'servant' comes from the actionable word 'serve'.

A servant in the bible denotes two things.

First is the servant as a worker or the servant-worker, like in the parable of the workers in the vineyard (Matthew 20:1-16),

the parable of the unprofitable servant.

(Luke 17:7-10) and the parable of talents

(Matt 25:14-30).

The servant-leader as Jesus Christ. He tells us that He has come to serve.

Moses is described as "the servant of God" Deut 34:5, 1 Chro 6:49, 2 Chro 24:9, Neh 10:29, Dan 9:11

Paul calls himself *"......a servant of God"* in Titus 1:1, while James calls himself *"......a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ"* in James 1:1.

Second is a servant belonging to other people. These are servants in the form of

*"......menservants, and maidservants,....."*

Gen 24:35.

There are those employed (ref Deut 24:14), or purchased (Exd 21:2) or often spoils of war or captives and are to perform rigorous or tasking variety of work, Exd 2:23.

While the first category illustrates where the servant is not oppressed, the second category illustrates the service of servants, which may involve oppression, Exd 5:7.

Jesus' teachings on servant and servanthood tell us that the general expectation of the servant is that he prioritizes the needs of his master and others above his, and he offers a humble and selfless service.

Jesus, as a servant leader, teaches us through His willingness to serve others that a true servant should have the willingness to serve others.

His ultimate sacrifice was the perfect example of a servant-leader who sacrificed Himself for our well-being.

The bible teaches us in three scriptures of Jesus as a servant-leader and where He was referred to as a servant.

In Matthew 20:26-28, He teaches us that leadership is service.

He teaches us here that a leader will not only preach servant leadership, he leads it by example. He lives it for others to emulate

He teaches here the essence of serving and strongly recommends that those who want greatness should seek the role of servant.

John 13:12-17, He washed His disciples' feet.

To wash anyone's feet, you have to bow.

The significance of Jesus' washing of this disciples' feet stands out as the most signifying example of humility and servanthood second only to His ultimate sacrifice on the cross.

Philippians 2:6-8 tells us that He took the *"......form of a servant...."*

Acts 3:3; 3:26; 4:27; 4:30 all refer to Jesus as a holy servant of God.

The servant of God has not lost his relevance and being referred to as one should not make him any lesser than being referred to as a friend and/or son of God.

Jesus's teachings opened our eyes that while He was a servant-leader, God was in Christ. So He, as a Son was a Son because He served as a servant leader.

Jesus calls us friends and sons today, not that a servant was not a suitable calling but He wants us to know that we can not truly embrace the reality of servanthood if we do not have a revelation of who a son is.

You can not understand servanthood if you do not have a revelation that it is the heart of God, and it is your obligation to do so if you are truly His son.

If we do not embrace the reality of servanthood with the revelation of sonship, we will have a slave mentality.

Those who serve will see themselves as slaves and those who are served will see themselves as people who must be served.

The one who is served is served.

Remember, we are qualified as sons and daughters of God when we serve.

We are called so because we have a revelation of God and Christ.

*Remorse corner.*

True sonship is found in servanthood that serves as he is served.

*Call to Word action.*

Christ did not call us into slave mentality. We are not to treat each other to a feeling of inferiority but to be as Christ who did what His Father told Him to do. As He was submissive to His Father, He was in no way lesser than His Father as a Son. He and His *"....Father are one,"* John 5:19; 10:30.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

As our Son Servant-leader served, so also a son and daughter of God would serve Him.

*Prayer.*

Lord, thank you for making me one of Your children, in Jesus name.

Good morning, all, and be blessed as you come into His presence.

God bless you.
