*WISDOM FOR TODAY.*

*WHY YOU ARE NOW A SON (2).*

*Scripture Treasure.*

John 15:15 *Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.*

*Insight and Highlight.*

Christ's statement of His preference to call us friends rather than servants is a call to intimacy with God

*Scripture Commentaries.*

We continue with the gradual transition of the child of God from servants of God to friends of God and sons of God.

Today, we will focus on the friend of God making reference and contrasts with the servant of God.

Servants of God receive revelations from God.

Amos 3:7 *Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.*

A friend of God, however, enjoys a more intimate relationship.

While God reveals to a servant of God, He goes farther with a friend.

When you are a friend of God, you can discuss with God.

Christ wants us to move from just receiving from Him to a more intimate relationship.

He says a servant does not know what His lord does.

In John 15:15, Jesus said *"......the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth:"*

He opens up divine transparency and collaboration. One that is intimate as between friends.

The servant of God as esteemed as the title is, is hereby given the intimacy that Jesus has with His Father. As He and His Father are one, the friend of God is one with God

Moses as a friend was more intimate than his position as a servant of God.

Moses, a servant of God, was more than a servant in the sense of not knowing what His Lord does but as a servant *"......who is faithful in all mine house."*

God said *"....With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold:.."* Numb 12:7-8.

Moses was a servant, faithful *"......in all my house....:* means a servant, God trusts out all those in His household.

A servant of God who is trusted by God is God's friend. This is what Jesus is saying in John 15:15.

He was one with God because God spoke to him mouth to mouth

A servant whom God can speak to mouth to mouth is God's friend.

A servant of God who remains faithful and consistent will not only receive revelations from God, but he deliberates with God.

So was Abraham. He engaged God in a conversation as to what God would do or what is needed to save Sodom and Gomorrah.

In Gen 18, Abraham interacted with God, asking if God would spare Sodom if He found only 50, then 45, 40, 30, 20, and finally 10 righteous people within the city, to which God agrees to each condition.

There are servants who just receive revelations. The interaction and deliberation opportunities with God may not be available for them.

Ezekiel heard from God and was engaged in a conversation with God, ref Ezk 37.

There are people God spoke to and would not speak any further. There will be a dearth of God's word, ref 1 Sam 3:1

Abraham was referred to as a friend of God.

James 2:23: *And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,' and he was called a friend of God.*

In Isaiah 41:8: God used the title servant interchangeably for Israel and friend for Abraham , the patriach and progenitor through whom Israel was chosen as the nation and through whom all prople and nations shall be blessed.

He says in Isaiah 41:8 *But you, Israel, are my servant, Jacob I have chosen, Abraham my friend.*

Have you often wondered why there are people who only hear from God and there are people who are privileged to relate, discuss, and collaborate with God more than they hear His voice?

God wants us to be more than servants.

He wants us to be friends whom He can relate, interact, and discuss.

Christ is calling for a more intimate relationship with you, and as a diligent servant who obeys, He also wants to be intimate with you as a friend.

As one who obeys Him and submits to His will, He does not want you to be a passive servant as a servant who has no say in the Kingdom.

He does not want you to be any lesser than Him.

Yes, He is our final authority, but He wants us to be complete in Him, Col 2:10. Not only this, He wants us to do greater work than He had done! John 14:12.

The servant of God can be a friend of God.

Moses, *"......the servant of God....."* Deut 33:5.

was Moses, a friend of God, ref Exd 33:11.

*Remorse corner.*

You are more than a servant of God when you not only hear God's voice but also interact with God. You become His friend when, in addition to hearing from Him, He speaks to you mouth to mouth as a man would speak with his friend.

*Call to Word action.*

Those who are friends of God rub minds with God. They are able to know what God does or will not do.

God not only reveals His ways to Moses, Ps 107:3. He spoke to him face to face

*".......as a man speaketh unto his friend"*, Exd 33:11.

*The Christian clarion duty.*

Do not remain a servant of God. Christ is also inviting you to upgrade to His friend!

As a servant of God, pray to also be a friend of God. Friends of God are more intimate with God.

*Prayer.*

Lord, help me to be Your friend in Jesus name.

Good morning all, and have a blessed day.

God bless you.
