Scripture Commentaries
Today, the whole world celebrates Christmas either by beliefs or as part of a people or nation that celebrate the Day.
It is the most widely recognized and celebrated of all days in the year, in the US and in the world, it ranks number one of all holidays celebrated.
Recent surveys indicate Christianity is the most practiced religion in the world though not the fastest growing.
Though the most practiced, it remains the most religiously repressed.
The repression did not start today. It was evident in the days of King Herod in Matt 2.
Today, leaders of laws and nations, kings, etc, are notable enemies of the gospel.
First, the thought that the future deliverer of Israel must bear a name that should be above every name that men had before honored; is contention in itself.
Second, no authority wants to share power. The notion of "one leader" is the acceptable norm, form, and mode of operation in any system of leadership. It is the only widely accepted norm.
Even Jesus accepts a "one master norm" of leadership, Matt 6:24, 25:14.
Paul also expresses a master-servant relationship, Eph 6:5, Col 3:22.
It is however noteworthy that Christ throne is not of this world, John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
His Spirit will not strive with humanity, Gen 6:3. He is not in competition with the mortal, He dwells in perfect existence not needing any of His creations!
Christ is Lord over all, forever.
Today as you celebrate Christmas, remember that though Christ's gospel has been repressed over the years, every knee is bowing daily to His name.
How many have you told about Him this year?
Remorse corner
The birth of Jesus brought hope to the lost. Isaiah 9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Call to Word action
Ephesians 5:8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
The Christian clarion duty
Our victory is assured with the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ. Where is the Herod, the Roman soldiers, the Judas,? They are no more. As it is so, also your problems will be no more.
Prayer
LORD, thank you for giving the world Jesus. Thank you Jesus, for saving me, in Jesus name.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and be blessed as you come into His presence today.
God bless you.
