Galatians 5:11 If I were no longer preaching salvation through the cross of Christ, no one would be offended.
Insight and Highlight
The preaching of the cross, to many is an offense. If however those to whom it is preached submit to it, they will receive consolation and rejoicing.
2 Cor 1:5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
Scripture Commentaries
The preaching of the gospel is a preaching of the cross. It is a cross in itself because many get offended by it, ref Gal 5:11. 1 Cor 1:18
As offended people may be, it still remains true that at Calvary the sacrifice for sin was finished and at the foot of the cross mercy reigns and never dies. Those who are saved know this.
Those yet unsaved must know that at the foot of the cross, the word of God stands sure forever, ref Ps 119:89.
The Apostle Peter says God is ".....not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Pet 3:9.
The dreaded and old rugged cross became the emblem, symbol, adornment of the Church of Christ.
The true Christian bears it. It is called the suffering of faith, 2 Cor 11:24.
The mark Paul had was the mark of suffering when carrying the cross, a suffering of the faith, Gal 6:17 From now on let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
Remorse corner
Those who carry the cross are carriers of His power. People who trouble you are troublers of God. You will rejoice at last because they will be cut off.
Call to Word action
Galatians 5:12 I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
The Christian clarion duty
Those who troubled you when you were carrying the cross will be troubled by God.
2 Thess1:6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
Prayer
Lord, let no one trouble me. Trouble them that trouble me, in Jesus name.
